MeeGo / Harmattan SunSpider benchmark

One of the tests I’ve run in almost all the mobile devices I happen to have the opportunity to test is the SunSpider JavaScript benchmark. I like it because the result not only depends on the hardware of the device but also on the ability of the manufacturer to optimize the javascript engine of the browser.

I was curious to see the benchmark result of my new Nokia N9, running MeeGo / Harmattan 1.2 (PR1.1), because I really wanted to see if Nokia was serious about browser javascript performance optimization despite the (single core) OMAP 3 CPU clocked at 1 GHz.

The result is not bad at all! In fact, it’s pretty much the same result one could get running the same benchmark on an iPhone 4 running iOS 5 which is great, considering Apple has done an excellent job with their Nitro javascript engine.
